What are the accepted payment methods?
We accept the following credit/debit cards for payment: Visa, Mastercard, American Express. Alternatively, you can pay using the following digital wallets:
- Apple in-app purchase
- Google Play in-app purchase
- AlipayHK (Hong Kong only)
- Apple Pay
- Google Pay through Subscribe with Google
Which currencies do you accept?
Depending on your location, some readers will be able to transact in their local currency while others will be required to transact in US dollars.
What currency exchange rate will I be charged in?
The currency exchange rate is subject to your credit card provider or bank that you used to purchase your subscription.
Do I need to pay a foreign transaction fee?
You may be subject to a foreign transaction fee if your credit card company has one. We advise you to check with your bank first.
Why am I charged in USD dollars instead of my local currency?
All transactions outside Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and The Philippines are now charged in US dollars as this allows our pricing to remain stable and consistent, rather than fluctuating with exchange rates.
What if I need an invoice to pay for my subscription?
What is Subscribe with Google?
Subscribe with Google allows you to use your Google account and any linked payment method to sign up for an SCMP subscription. Subscriptions made through this feature will be managed in your Google account. For more details, please refer to Google Play Help.
Why am I still seeing ads after paying for a subscription?
Unfortunately, a digital subscription does not allow for an ad-free experience.
Do you offer corporate or academic subscription plans?
Yes, we offer digital group subscriptions to corporations and academic institutions. You can visit this page to find out more. We do not currently offer an individual student subscription plan, although keep checking back as we may do in the future.
Digital and Print Access
What is SCMP’s digital subscription and how can I access it?
SCMP’s digital subscription allows unlimited access to news, videos and more on our website and mobile app. If you'd like to purchase a digital subscription, please visit subscribe.scmp.com.
Will all SCMP digital content on the website and app require a subscription to access? Will there no longer be free access to any content on SCMP.com?
As part of our commitment to providing verified news coverage, our public service articles are available for all readers to access, even those without a digital subscription. In addition, every reader has access to some free articles each month and our mobile app remains free to download.
I have a registered SCMP account – does that mean I automatically have a digital subscription?
No, however registering for an account is free and readers are then able to visit subscribe.scmp.com to purchase a digital subscription.
No, a Young Post subscription needs to be purchased separately. Likewise, a Young Post subscription does not necessarily grant you unlimited access to articles on SCMP.com. However, there are bundle (YP +SCMP) plans available. You can view Young Post plans at subscribe.scmp.com/yp.

Will SCMP’s print edition continue to circulate?
Yes, we offer both print-only and print + digital subscriptions. You can find out more about our plans at subscribe.scmp.com.
Will digital access be added to my print subscription automatically?
No. If you have an existing print subscription you will need to purchase an additional digital subscription to gain full access to our website and mobile app. If you'd like to sign up for a print + digital bundle package, please visit subscribe.scmp.com.
Do you offer promotion codes?
Yes, promotion codes are available during certain SCMP marketing campaigns. We will also select readers to use promo codes by invitation.
